2026 年 3 月 8 日，又迎来了一年一度的加纳独立国庆日，这是加纳共和国的第69个独立国庆日。

上海加纳社群与加纳学生全国联合会上海分会共同举办了一场盛大的庆祝活动，与在上海的各界非洲同胞共庆独立日。

迦纳术略是位于西非经济中心– 加纳·阿克拉的一家专注于撒哈拉以南非洲地区的多领域投资组合，及私募股权投资公司。由十四世·托比·阿菲德阁下领导。

The 69th Independence Day Celebration of the Republic of Ghana was held in Shanghai

The annual Independence Day of Ghana was celebrated on 8th, March 2026. This marked the 69th Independence Day of the Republic of Ghana.

Ghana Community in Shanghai with the National Union of Ghana Students - Shanghai Chapter jointly held a grand celebration event to celebrate Independence Day together with African compatriots from all walks of life in Shanghai.

This grand event specially invited officials from the Ghanaian Embassy in China: Dr. Harry Zevon, accompanied by Mr. Seth Agyenim Boateng, the First Secretary / Diaspora and Education attended the event.

Also present were Ms. Helen Cao，the China Representative of the Strategic Initiatives Ltd (SIL) Office in China，led by His Excellency Togbe Afede XIV.

The main theme was A Touch of Fugu: "Threads of Tradition, Patterns of Pride" 

• Strengthening Ties: Enhancing the synergy between the Ghanaian

diaspora and the Mission in Beijing.

• Student Welfare: Ensuring our scholars are empowered to bring

  world-class expertise back to the shores of Ghana.

• Economic Diplomacy: Showcasing Ghanaian excellence within the

  competitive Shanghai trade landscape.

  
  

At the event, Dr. Harry delivered a wonderful speech, introducing Ghana's development since independence. What moved all the African compatriots present was that Ghana was first African country south of the Sahara to break free from colonial rule and achieve independence.

During the event, the Ghanaian students presented the unique Ghanaian dance to the guests. After the event, Dr. Harry took a friendly photo with the representatives of the on-site student union.

Ms. Helen Cao, the China Representative of the SIL Office in China, was honored to participate in the event as the sole representative of the Ghanaian enterprises in Shanghai.

In addition to cooperating with several international financial institutions, SIL as part of its international expansion strategy, has established an active representative office in Shanghai, China. 

The representative office enhances our ability to achieve the three core goals: 

• Promoting Cross-border Investments: The Shanghai Representative Office is responsible for developing, coordinating and executing cross-border business. It not only provides channels for Chinese and Asian investors to access African opportunities and builds bridges, but also helps African enterprises expand into the Asian market.

• Supporting International Investors: For Asian enterprises and investors seeking to establish operations in Ghana and the West African sub-region or expand their businesses, we offer local consultation, due diligence support and business assistance.

• Connecting Global Capital with African Development: Leveraging Shanghai's advantages as a financial and trade hub, we further enhance our business capabilities and direct investments towards emerging transformative projects in Africa's energy, infrastructure, manufacturing, and financial services sectors.

Since its opening in Shanghai in October 2020, the SIL Representative Office in China has achieved remarkable results. It successfully introduced Alibaba to Ghana and is the only partner besides Egypt that cooperates with Alibaba. This project is undertaken by Accra World Trade Center under the SIL.

Since 2021, the SIL has sent batches of Ghanaian students to Chinese universities participating in the Belt and Road Initiative. During the pandemic, it held irregular Ghanaian food festivals and sponsored the New Year celebration activities of the National Union of Ghanaian Students Association in Shanghai in January 2021.
