Togbe Plans for a Cutting-edge Aviation Academy for Ghana
On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, led a high-level delegation on a feasibility study at Ho Airport as part of efforts to establish a state-of-the-art Aviation Academy.
The proposed academy is envisioned as a center of excellence in aviation training, incorporating a Pilot Training School, Cabin Crew and Technician Training Facility, and a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) Facility. This initiative aims to enhance aviation education, create employment opportunities, and position Ghana as a regional hub for aviation training and services.
This visit marks the second attempt at assessing the feasibility of the project, following an earlier effort that encountered challenges. However, with renewed commitment and a strengthened collaborative approach, stakeholders remain optimistic about achieving a successful outcome this time.
The delegation included Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, along with key representatives from the Ghana Airports Company Limited, Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, Africa World Airlines, industry engineers, and other stakeholders. Discussions focused on identifying an optimal location for the facility and addressing critical logistical and regulatory considerations to ensure seamless execution.
Originally conceptualized in 2019, this project holds immense promise, not only for the Volta Region but for Ghana’s aviation sector as a whole. With dedication, strategic planning, and collaboration, we remain confident in delivering a world-class aviation academy that meets international standards and contributes to the nation’s economic and aviation industry growth.
